Financial Controller

Location: St Austell, Cornwall, PL25 5RJ
Salary: £35,000 – £45,000 per year + Benefits
Job type: Full-time, Permanent
Hours: Monday – Friday, 9:30am to 4:00pm

Financial Controller – The Role:

To support and manage all aspects of our financial operations, including financial reporting, budgets and forecasts, ensuring financial health, and driving strategic decision-making and providing valuable financial insights to support our sustainable goals.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Invoicing: Ensuring invoices are properly processed, approved and coded in the general ledger on NetSuite.
  • Bookkeeping: Overall responsibility for the completeness and reconciliation of accounting records within NetSuite
  • Cash flow management: Monitoring and processing payments timely along with balancing cash flows into and out of a business to meet obligations.
  • Audit liaison: Coordinating with external financial, compliance and statutory auditors.
  • Budget: Assisting finance director with creating the annual budget incorporating historical data and maintaining a rolling budget during the year.
  • Financial strategy: Assisting finance director with developing financial strategy, including risk minimisation plans and opportunity forecasting.
  • Compliance: Assisting with ensuring compliance with HMRC and other legal requirements as well as relevant industry regulations.
  • Daily Reporting: Providing financial figures daily to Directors and department heads
  • Cost savings: Identifying efficiencies and opportunities for cost reductions across the business including opportunities for automation and improvement of processes.
  • Leadership: Mentoring and managing the accounting and financial staff.
  • Other reporting: Preparing and filing quarterly VAT returns and monthly management accounts and preparation of year end accounts file for auditors.
  • Banking: Check, process and reconcile banking daily to keep up to date then share with Directors.

Financial Controller – What we need from You:

  • Experience working in or managing an in-house accounts team
  • ACA/ACCA/CIMA or AAT qualification
  • Experience of preparing financial and management reports
  • Familiarity with VAT
  • Background in supervising staff
  • Experience with NetSuite preferred but not essential.
  • Leadership skills
  • Keen eye for detail
